IN A WORLD WITH...

In a world with war and competition,

I no longer see what I saw before,

The intrigue of an old new union,

Like a beautiful eagle, my heart soars.

The sun shines bright for you eternally,

The flowers are now forever in bloom,

What was it that blinded me from your beauty,

Probably some dark shadowy gloom.

My soul is flying high like a kite,

I would do anything for such a sight,

Pour un embrasser, je voudrais danser.

In a world with you, with me would you stay?

Si tu m'aimais, je voudrais t'aimer.

AFTER DEATH

AFTER DEATH

THE curtains were half drawn, the floor was swept

And strewn with rushes; rosemary and may

Lay thick upon the bed on which I lay,

Where through the lattice ivy-shadows crept.

He leaned above me, thinking that I slept

And could not hear him; but I heard him say

'Poor child, poor child': as he turned away

Came a deep silence, and I knew he wept.

He did not touch the shroud, or raise the fold

That hid my face, or take my hand in his,

Or ruffle the smooth pillows for my head:

He did not love me living; but once dead

He pitied me; and very sweet it is

To know he still is warm though I am cold.

AN ENIGMA

"Seldom we find" say Solomon Don Dunce,

"Half an idea as the profoundest Sonnet

Through all the flimsy things we see at once

As easily as through Naples bonnet

Trash of all trash! how can a lady don it

Yet heavier far than your petrarchan stuf

Owl downy nonsense that the faintest puff

Twirls into trunk-paper due while you con it"

And, veritably, Sol is right enough

The general tuckormanities are arrant

Bubbles - emphemeral and so transparent

But this is nopw you may depend on it-

Stable, opaque, imortal - all lay dint

Of the dear names that he concealed within 't.

This is for everyone who has had the priviledge of a mentor's respect and love...

This is for everyone who has had the priviledge

of a mentor's respect and love...

and fears the day that they will have to let go.

For all of you have already been forced

to let go. I admire your strength.

UNTITILED

Many have fallen like petals in a summer's wind,

but you were the stem that kept us together.

In troubled waters we listen for your voice

that brings us the strength and comfort we need.

Just as the sun rises and sets with each passing day,

you are the constant in our lives that we dearly enjoy.

FALLEN HEARTS

I can trace my fingers

across the broken bones

of yesteryears far told.

I feel the blood spilled poppies

that haunted whispers blow.

My heart lays deep buried

with the grievances of families

who lost love's last touch

upon the heart of Normandy.

I strive to hear the sparrows

singing strong and brave

to a country's failing sorrow

and a love that can't be saved.

From these poppies grow

an honour long foretold

of simple people and simple lives

who's darkness brough my light.

I will never see thee,

love will pass you by,

your dreams will create a mist

that lonely hearts will cry.
